Donald Jones is a Wealth Manager at Wealth Management Resource Group. After serving as an Engineering Officer and Communications Officer in the U.S. Navy, he went to work for Merrill Lynch, and later Fleet Bank (now Bank of America) where he managed the municipal trading desk. He was recruited to Fleet’s Money Management Group where he was responsible for High Net Worth (HNW) individuals and one of their mutual funds. His stewardship of the fund led to a #2 ranking from “Barron’s Value Line Ranking of the Top 100 Mutual Fund Managers”* and landed him regular appearances on CNBC programs such as “Power Lunch” and Squawk Box.” In addition, he managed assets or Fleet Bank’s largest private relationship in Rhode Island and was responsible for investment and retirement accounts for a local Hospital. In total, he developed, implemented, and managed investment strategies for $1.2 billion in AUM for the funds and 110 separate relationships.
Don graduated from SMU in Dallas, Texas with a BBA in Banking & Economics, and an MBA in Finance. He holds his Series 7, 6, 63, and 66 FINRA registrations in addition to Life, Accident, and Health licenses. He is a registered representative and investment advisor representative of Wealth Management Resource Group.
Don is an active leader at the Our Lady of Mercy (OLM) Catholic Church in East Greenwich, RI, and has
served as an Extraordinary Minister and a teacher in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program. His philanthropy work includes fundraising campaigns for the OLM Capital Campaign, Moses Brown School (where his three sons attended), and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), among others. An avid military history buff and enthusiastic golfer, Don is a member of the Rhode Island Civil War Round Table and served as past president of Agawam Hunt in East Providence, RI.
Don lives in East Greenwich, RI with his wife Carol and their beloved dog, Oliver.
